Yellow Transportation's Uniform Policy

On June 7th, 2006, Tyson Johnson, Co-Chairman of the Teamsters National Freight Industry Negotiating Committee (TNFINC) issued a temporary position regarding the wearing of the heavy uniform shirt Yellow has required of certain employees to be worn while on the job.

Johnson has stated, "If the temperature goes beyond 90 degrees, the membership will not be required to wear the heavy uniform shirt (any shirt other than the polo shirt). In addition he advised membership not to sign any type of form or acknowledgement for receipt of uniforms in conjuction with vendor liability.

TNFINC is taking this position, as this becomes a health issue and the possibility of a heat stroke during the summer months. The memo directs the membership to telephone the National Freight Division at 202.624.8761 should they encounter any disciplinary action as a result of the memorandum.
