Schneider National to Cut 170 Jobs

Schneider National will eliminate about 170 jobs as part of a company-wide staff realignment, the truckload carrier said Wednesday in a statement. The Green Bay, Wisconsin, carrier also said it would redeploy 85 employees to other areas of its business.

About 120 of the positions to be eliminated are located at the company’s Green Bay headquarters, Schneider said.The carrier said the cuts follow recent acquisitions that increased its workforce by more than 1,100 employees globally, prompting the staff realignment. Visit Schneider.Com

DOT Says Airline Employment Down

U.S. scheduled passenger airlines employed 5 percent fewer workers in June 2006 than in June 2005, the 18th consecutive month that full-time equivalent employee (FTE) levels for the scheduled passenger carriers declined compared to the same month of the previous year, the Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS), a part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), reported today.
